LUPUS AND APPLYING FOR SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY

It occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. But, in general, lupus signs and symptoms may include: fatigue, chest pain, weight changes, joint pain, bruising, dry eyes, facial rashes, skin lesions, hair loss (alopecia), shortness of breath, dry eyes, depression or anxiety, and memory loss. Lupus can cause serious problems with your kidneys, heart, lungs or other areas where you experience symptoms. Treatment for Lupus depends on how it is affecting your body, and can include anti-inflammatories, corticosteroids, as well as other medications.

Lupus can be progressive and severely disabling depending on the severity of your condition.  The social security administration will look at your medical records, treating physician opinions, and statements that you make during the application process when determining your elgibility for a social security disability benefits.
